Vintage, But Make It Loud

A Vibrant Alternative Spring Wedding in Boise

There are weddings that follow trends—and then there are weddings that redefine them. This April celebration in Boise did exactly that: a vintage-inspired, vibrant, alternative spring wedding layered with personality, intention, and a whole lot of color.

Set between The Linen Building and The Modern Hotel and Bar, the day unfolded as a bold, joyful experience that felt equal parts editorial and deeply personal.

A Historic Boise Backdrop

The Linen Building is one of Boise’s most iconic industrial venues, originally constructed in the early 1900s as a laundry facility during the city’s rapid growth. Over time, it evolved from a working warehouse into a thoughtfully restored event space, keeping its exposed brick, steel beams, and expansive windows intact. That history gives weddings here a grounded, textured feel—perfect for couples who want a space with character rather than a blank slate.

Paired with the retro charm of The Modern Hotel, the day carried a cohesive aesthetic: nostalgic, artistic, and just a little rebellious.

The Rise of Vintage in 2026 Weddings

Vintage isn’t just having a moment in 2026—it’s becoming a defining direction in wedding design. But it’s not the muted, dusty version of vintage we’ve seen before. Couples are leaning into vibrant nostalgia: bold color palettes, thrifted details, and statement textures that feel curated rather than themed.

This wedding captured that shift perfectly.

Hot pink, electric orange, and every shade in between created a palette that felt alive. Instead of soft pastels, spring showed up here as saturated color and playful contrast. Disco balls scattered light across the room. Thrifted records added texture and storytelling. A velvet couch and neon-lit lounge space invited guests to settle in and stay awhile.

It was vintage—with volume turned all the way up.

Handmade, Heart-Led Details

One of the most meaningful layers of this wedding was the involvement of the bride’s mother, who created nearly all of the decor by hand—including the faux florals. Every arrangement, every installation carried intention, making the space feel not only styled, but deeply personal.

Guest favors followed suit: an eclectic collection of thrifted glassware in the wedding’s signature colors. Each piece was unique, sustainable, and something guests would actually keep—an elevated take on the idea of a favor.

Playful, Personal Touches

This day was filled with details that felt entirely their own:

The ring bearer? Their dog, Kevin—undeniably the star of the aisle.

A mirrored aisle runner that reflected both the couple and the color-drenched design around them.

QR codes on tables, inviting guests to instantly share candid photos from their phones—an effortless, modern way to capture the day from every perspective.

The reception leaned into comfort and fun with catered pizza, wings, and mac and cheese—proof that wedding food doesn’t need to be formal to be unforgettable.

Dessert was just as thoughtful: an assortment of handmade sugar mold treats alongside four different homemade cakes, each as vibrant as the florals. It felt less like a display and more like a celebration of creativity.

Moments at The Modern

From quiet vows on a rumpled hotel bed to a spontaneous first dance in the aftermath of getting ready

After the ceremony, the couple slipped away to a quiet room at The Modern Hotel and Bar for a moment that felt entirely their own. Originally built in 1962 as a mid-century Travelodge, The Modern has since been thoughtfully restored into one of Boise’s most design-forward boutique hotels—blending its retro roots with clean, contemporary style. It was the perfect setting for something so intimate. Sitting side by side on the bed, they shared their private vows—soft, emotional, and completely unfiltered. Just beyond, in the living room still scattered with the remnants of the morning’s getting-ready rush, they held each other and practiced their first dance, laughing and swaying in a space that felt real and lived-in. It was deeply personal, the kind of moment that can’t be staged. I felt genuinely honored they trusted me to witness it, and even more grateful to preserve those memories for them.

A Spin Around the Block

As the night came to a close, the couple made their exit in a classic Mustang convertible—decorated by guests with ribbons and playful details. It was chaotic in the best way, a perfect reflection of the day itself: unpolished, joyful, and completely full of life.
